What is yoga? Who can practice it?

Yoga means ‘bringing together’. Yoga has its origin from Indian subcontinent and is now being practiced worldwide as a wellness practice. Doctors are recommending Yoga practice to seek relief from stress, anxiety, sleeping disorders etc. Yoga also works as a tool in bringing coordination between mind and the body, which helps in speeding the healing process.

Human beings are a combination of physical, mental and emotional bodies, when these bodies work together in harmony joy is possible in life. Usually people focus only on physical fitness, total Well-being is possible when we have a healthy body, peaceful mind and emotional freedom. Yoga practice uses movements, asanas(yoga poses), pranayama(breathing practices and mindfulness together for achieving this.

Yoga poses can be modified to suit all fitness levels, hence can be practiced by everybody. The aim of yoga practice is to bring a gentle and kind approach towards building flexibility and strength. As a yoga instructor, it’s our responsibility to guide the practitioners into a safe, energizing, empowering and relaxing practice.
